dave clark. >> and i'm pam cook. thank you for joining us. let's check in with steve paulson. pretty cold wind. how about this morning? >> about the same. we do have mostly cloudy partly cloudy skies right now. a weak system spinning in over us. that has enhanced the wind. we've had gusts over 30-40 miles an hour and some of the higher elevations along the coast closer to 50 it will be a partly cloudy to partly sunny day. windy on the cool side with a lot of 60s and low 70s. here is sal. right now traffic is moving along okay north and southbound here on interstate 880 and there are no major problems there. also the morning commute looks good in san francisco approaching the downtown area. remember it's a little windy out there and it might catch your attention as you try to drive across the spans. let's go back to the desk. overnight we learned a four- month-old baby girl reported missing in contra costa county has been found. as jade hernandez tells us, there are still plenty of unanswered questions. jade. >> reporter: that is right. the facebook page created to

facilitate information about this four month old reports very good news this morning. the profile picture says it all. located safe. this morning the contra costa county sheriffs office says the four-month-old had been found hours before 3:30 this morning. we still don't know how the baby is fairing or the circumstances surrounding her discovery. we do know there was an extensive search with dozens of volunteers and canine units. this is a picture of the baby found. it's unclear how a four-month- old disappeared from her bassinet. she put the little one down tousled around 10:00 saturday night. eight hours later she was gone from her crib. 20 minutes after finding their baby gone they called help. the authorities couldn't explain why it took so long to contact authorities but they did not suspect foul play. the search pulled in about 100 law enforcement officials, canine units along with

volunteers. the family lives along tool lane in knightsen. >> we don't have any communication that there there was a family disput or abduction. there is a suspicion that the child does not have the ability to disappear on her own. >> reporter: they called the center for missing and exploited children. as soon as we get more information about the 14-pound little girl with dark hair and blue eyes we will let you know. a friend on facebook though is saying this morning that the baby was found in the l.a. area. although that is unconfirmed at this point. that is what some friends an facebook are reporting. reporting live jade hernandez ktvu channel 2 news. time now 6:03. overnight news a prison riot at san quentin sent four inmates to the hospital. 200 prisoners were involved in

that riot. started just before 7:00 last night in the prisons dining hall. here is a live picture outside of san quentin gate right now. guards had to use nontheliale bullets and pepper spray to break up that riot. ten inmate made weapons were found after that riot. that happened shortly before # last -- 8:00 last night on d street. they found the 19-year-old victim lying on the sidewalk. he was rushed to a local hospital but died a short time later. it's unclear what lead up to that shooting but they are following several strong leads. this morning in joplin, missouri 89 people at least confirmed dead by a violent tornado. now within the past hour, president obama called

missouri's governor to extech his condolences and pledge the federal government support. we want to show you new video this morning of the heavily damaged joplin high school take a look at that. you can see the campus was demolished. authorities estimate 25-30% of the city suffered damage. people that live through the tornado talked about the devastation. >> just makes you think just how quick something can happen. you know. one minute it was just barely sprinkling the next minute the whole world upside down. >> missouri's governor says fires from gas leaks are still burning across the city. and the death toll may go even higher as search and rescue team goose door to door looking for people who may be trapped. president obama is in ireland this morning. it's the start of a six-day european trip. we will bring you a live report from our washington, d.c. newsroom as we see the president right here. we will tell you what he is

hoping to achieve with his visit to ireland. former minnesota governor tim pawlenty is officially in the race for the republican presidential nomination in 2012. he announced his run in an internet video taking several digs at president obama. >> has to do more than give fancy speeches. we've had three years of that. it's not working. >> pawlenty also says that he will tell the american people the truth suggesting that president obama does not. today pawlenty will formerly announce his candidacy in iowa. mitch daniels sent an e- mail to his supporters telling him after long consideration he will not run for the 2012 nomination temperature it's believed he decided not to run due to opposition from his wife and four grown daughters that do not want to face the intense public scrutiny of a public race. this week vallejo city officials will talk about

regulating medical marijuana dispensaries. about a dozen medical pot clubs are doing business in vallejo. on tuesday city council members will consider wording for a pot sales tax measure for the november ballot. they could reportedly net about $250,000 a year in revenue. that is according to some early estimates. drivers headed to lake tahoe this weekend should expect delays. starting today one way traffic control will be in effect for a portion of highway 50 at echo summit. that will delay drivers for up to 20 minutes. the one-way traffic control is being done so cal tran crews can finish work on a crumbling rock wall. highway 50 will reopen to both directions over the weekend until the work is done. our time is now 6:07. let's check in with sal. sal. >> we are looking at the roads they are not too bad just yet. as a matter of fact, things are looking okay if you are driving

on 880 northbound however there a crash just happened northbound 880 just before 16th street. you see one car, a couple cars there in the fast lane. one of the things that we know is that it is being reported as a noninjury accident. a gray toyota verses a gold honda. two vehicles involved in blocking one of the lane there is. you can see although it is blocking lanes chp reports no one is injured in this crash. kind of terrible to start a monday. northbound 280 in san jose that traffic looks good getting up to highway 17. and this mornings drive in livermore valley on westbound 580 that traffic is okay. it's windy there as you drive to hayward and fremont traffic is okay. a very happy monday morning. a cool, cool pattern continues here for may. there is no sign of this letting up. we get a little warmup and bring it down. morning clouds and sunny today. temperatures a lot of 50s, and

60s coast and bay side. tomorrow will be mostly sunny and a little tiny bit warmer. we bring in clouds on wednesday and it looks like rain san francisco to oakland maybe a little farther south as we head into wednesday. the system that dropped in on sunday left a cool air mass. temperatures averaging 4-12 degrees cooler. a little system right there in the atmosphere swinging on by. that is what is giving us the cooler pattern. upper 40s to low to mid 50s. livermore which was i think 68 yesterday. unbelievable cool. we will go 50 and 64, 70 for a high today. should be closer to 80. it doesn't help to warm up when you have a west wind gusting to 25. southwest fairfield. northwest santa rosa and a

county jail -- is now in the los angeles county jail. our reporter kttv reporter is joining us from los angeles with the latest. >> reporter: good morning everyone. police made an arrest yesterday early sunday morning. now it took hundreds of tips they took him in. most of them lead to nothing. expect one of them changed everything. that was a tip from a patrol agent. that lead them to west hollywood yesterday. suspect number one is identified as 31-year-old giovanni ramirez. he was one of the two men that attacked bryan stow. his booking photo has not been released yet. people that saw ramirez get arrested on sunday he resembles the sketch. police believe ramirez was the main aggressor that left stow unconscious. they had to place stow in a

medically induced coma. early sunday morning a swat team armed with a search warrant arrived at an east hollywood apartment complex. they are now looking for two other people the second attacker and a woman who drove them out of the dodgers stadium. they are saying she was wearing an andre jersey and they are hoping that will jog the memory of people there. hopefully they will give that information to police. one person is in custody. bail set at $1 million and the other two are at large. that is the latest reporting from downtown los angeles. >> we have continuing coverage 06 bryan stow case height here on ktvu channel 2 and on our website you can find updates on his condition and the news conference given by los angeles police about the arrest. now just go to ktvu.com click on the bryan stow tab. question questions this morning over whether the leader of the taliban have been

arrival overnight. he and the first lady touched down in dublin during a major storm. he's meeting with ireland's president and prime minister and talking about the bond between the two countries. >> not just a matter of foreign policy for the united states, ireland. >> reporter: that blood link extends to himself. the president is in a helicopter traveling to the home of his great, great grand father on his mothers side. more on that visit during the next update in an hour. for knew we are live in washington, d.c. alison burns. time now 6:16. the taliban denies a report that its leader has been killed. an afghan newspaper reports that mohammed omar was shot to death in pakistan.

a taliban spokesman says that is wrong. omar is alive and in afghanistan. former san francisco supervisor tony hall who is running for mayor how has paid an ethics fine levied against him years ago. the san francisco ethics commission fined hall $6,000 in 2008. it was in relation to a run for supervisor in 2004. he was fined for poor recordkeeping and accused of using his campaign credit card to buy personal items. hedness the charges. but he's paying the fine now so he can qualify for public financing for his run for mayor. california public schools may be able to restore money they plan to cut from next years budget. funding levels should stay the same from last year. that is according to is a school advisor. he tells the mercury news that districts will have the money to hire back laid off employees

if funding remains the same. but he warns the district should not start hiring back employees until lawmakers actually pass that budget. time now 6:17. antioch police want your help this morning. they are looking for answers in a florida man's mysterious death. they found the 27-year-old man floating in a lake late friday night. they performed cpr but they were not able to save him. the man was visiting family members in the bay area. police still don't know how the man died. they are asking anyone in the antioch area friday night to contact them right away. this morning two suspects are in custody for the severe beating and robbery of an east palo alto man. it happened early yesterday an addison avenue. two young men attacked the victim after stealing his wallet. they later tracked down the suspect. that victim is badly hurt but is expected to survive. facebook is now hiring

the winds have been a problem for the bridge as well. hawaii wind advisory -- high wind advisories coming into san francisco and now i have confirmed there will be no service between bay farm island and alameda and the san francisco fairy building. there is no substitute bus service so we have confirmed that for you for alameda harbor people. let's move along and take a look at 880 northbound they cleared an accident near 16th. and the morning drive is okay on the san mateo bridge but again if you are driving across the bridges, please use care it's very windy out there. let's go to steve. thank you, sir. on this monday morning we have partly cloudy skies. the breeze is not going anywhere. so after these morning clouds mostly sunny breezy but still cool. 50s and 60s close to the coast and around the bay. there is the system right there. it will be out of here fast.

it sure has picked up the wind and cranked up the old wind machine. gusts near 50 miles an hour. temperatures upper 40s and low 50s. west 25. sfo gusting to 34. so it has a little u. going. mostly sunny top breezy at times. also in some of higher elevations altamont pass had gusts to 50. low 70s for many. livermore at 70 degrees. gill roy at 70 degrees. 60s and 70s it's really cool. light warmup tuesday and cloud it up wednesday. it looks like rain might make it in. showers on thursday. friday should be warmer but not much warmer as we go into the holiday weekend. campbell soup and crispy cream donuts are reporting

earnings. campbell soup reports an 11% increase in third quarter earnings which exceed wall street expectations. crispy cream more than doubled. california will have a mortgage fraud task force. announced a team that will monitor all aspects of the lending business. it will be comprised of 17 lawyers. hot smoke and ash erupting from a volcano in iceland. new travel advisories just issued and delays already caused. a new list is ranking the healthiest cities in the country. how the bay area did on that list and the one city that came in dead last. westbound 24 traffic looks okay heading up to the high- rise. again we have fairy service that has been canceled. we'll tell you why it happened and what the alternatives are coming up.

straight ahead. airlines and airports from iceland to europe are keeping a close eye on an erupting volcano this morning. it started erupting on saturday. now the european union says smoke and ash could soon enter british air space. that could force some airlines to cancel flights. this morning a danish airline had to cancel a flight from greenland because of the ash. people in montana are dealing with flooding. officials have closed the 70- mile stretch of interstate 90 the main east west root through the state. nearly six inches of rain fell in billings since thursday. and snow runoff is adding to that problem. as nearly as 100 homes are now isolated because of the flooding. time now 6:26. an illegal drug operation is probably responsible for a weekend explosion that seriously injured three people.

it happened saturday afternoon. the blast blew out the windows, part of the porch, even left a huge hole in the roof. now investigators say evidence they collected from the scene points to an illegal drug operation. neighbors say show would always smell marijuana smoke coming out of a window. >> it's just electric. there is no gas. to cause that big of an education motion in their house. >> all victims are still in the hospital. a new list of the healthiest cities in the country is out. several california cities did make the top. the rankings from the american college of sports medicine show minneapolis as the healthiest city in the country. close behind is san francisco at number six. no other california city -- other california cities include sacramento, san jose, and san diego. the unhealthiest city in the country oklahoma city.

reaction. >> reporter: san francisco general hospital is where giants fan bryan stow has been for the past week. he's still in critical condition and he's been unconscious for the past seven weeks since he was beaten outside dodgers stadium on march 31st. in the weeks that followed the attack los angeles police pursued more than 650 tips that clocked more than 6,000 hours of investigative work to track down the two men responsible for that beating. yesterday morning police made an arrest in the case. swat team members descended on this east hollywood apartment building and brought giovanni ramirez into custody. >> we got a tip from a law enforcement patrol agent about an individual. this was one of the many hundreds of tips but we began to work this one actively. >> reporter: now police say it was actually ramirez patrol agent that recognized him from

the sketch. several witnesses also picked him out of a lineup. they are not releasing ramirez's booking photo yet. all we have to show you to identify him is this sketch. ramirez is an exfelon. he's being held on $1 billion bail for assault with a deadly weapon. police are still looking for a second male attacker and a woman who is believed to be driving the get away car. stow's family says they are incredibly relieved that the suspect is behind bars and the arrest was also welcome news for giants players. >> all our thoughts and prayers are with ryan. that is good to hear. that is good to hear they found some of the people who are responsible because it's definitely the last thing we ever want out here is fan violence. >> reporter: now stow's family is also expressing gratitude for the arrest saying quote we would like to thank lapd for all of their hard work in this case. we are overwhelmed with many emotions today.

stow's family will if here a little later on this morning to talk about some of those emotions. they are expected to have a press conference in the lobby of the hospital at 11:00 a.m.. live in san francisco allie rasmus. time now 6:33. new details of an overnight accident in oakland. this happened just after 12:30 this morning on southbound interstate 880 near the fruitvale exit. a car hit a man now confirmed to be 72 years old. police are also now confirming the car that hit the man left the scene. the search is on right now for that car and that driver. san francisco police are searching for suspects after a drive by shooting in the hayes valley neighborhood. it happened near hayes and buchanon streets about 9:00 last night. police say a gold car drove up to a group of young men at am bus stop and someone inside started shooting. two of the young men were shot in the legs. the injuries are not life

threatening. so far no arrests have been made. a baby is now safe but the mystery around her reported disappearance continues. ktvu jade hernandez is in contra costa county this morning with the story. what have you been able to find out? >> reporter: we are learning new information every half hour in this case. we spoke to a family friend yesterday on camera. she told us by phone this morning that ramy gallego is found. she was found in southern california in the los angeles area. this is a picture of the baby found. ramy gallego we still don't know the circumstances surrounding her discovery and the family friend told us she wanted to speak to the mother first. there was an extensive search with dozens of volunteers and canine units to find the baby. the four months old mother said she put her down for bed around

10:00. eight hours later she was gone from her crib. 20 minutes later they called for help. authorities couldn't explain why it took so long to contact authorities but could say there were also three other children in the home and no one else was disturbed or harmed. the search pulled in about 100 law enforcement firms, canine units along with volunteers. >> we don't have any evidence to confirm someone walked in and took the baby from the house. obviously that is a possibility. it's not something we are casting aside. it's one of the possibilities of what occurred here. >> reporter: again four-month- old rammy gallego has been found. the family lives along tool lane. the home is located in am rule area with lots of farmland in the property. i want to come back out here live because i want to show you this is the facebook page that has been facilitating information to many of the volunteers to family members and it really says it all.

back tomorrow at noon. yesterday prison crews were put to work filling sandbags. much of the area is desserted but there are still a few holdouts. >> we've had to make the decision to wait to the last second to get o out. we never thought the water was coming up. >> army corp of engineer opened up two spill ways in louisiana to avoid major flooding. that have left the farms and homes in low lying areas vulnerable. back here at home closing arguments are expected to wrap up today in the chauncey bailey murder trial. the case could go to the jury as early as this afternoon. yusuf bey is accused of killing bailey. they wanted to stop bailey about writing an article about the financial collapse of the bakery. crack down on people who do

not wear their seat belts starts today. the fine for not wearing a seat belt is $142 for a first time adult offender. it's $445 for a child who is not buckled up properly. an estimated one million californians do not wear seat belts. >> it's a big deal. 6:38. sal, i know you are watching a lot of things this morning including the toll plaza. >> yeah dave and pam. i also know my car will not stop beeping unless you get that seat belt on. it just won't. a lot of cars won't let you drive without that annoying beeping. make sure the seat belt is on today. it's not all that bad getting into san francisco. the wind will get your attention on bay area spans and causeways. just be careful out there. also the morning commute looks good open the san mateo bridge. again a little foggy, a little windy there. not a bad commute really if you

satellite. upper 40s or low 50s. everybody is close. everybody is really close. livermore temperatures yesterday for many peninsula south bay did not hit 70 degrees. today we will go 70 in livermore. that is a far cry from where you should be. west 25. west at 12. southwest at 8. west northwest all the way from san jose to parts of the peninsula are getting a westerly breeze. mostly sunny. breezy to windy at times. highs today only a few will be really in the mid 70s. a lot of low 70s. temperatures around the bay upper 60s or low 70s. walnut creek only 70 degrees. pleasanton only 71. saratoga at 70. 70 ons peninsula. slightly warmer tuesday and

good morning, to you. women come -- welcome back. this is a quick look at the top stories. a prison riot in san quentin sent four inmates to the hospital. guards say 200 prisoners were involved. it started last night in the prisons dining hall. none of the guards were hurt. this morning antioch police are searching for suspects in a deadly shooting. it happened just before 8:00 last night on d street. they found the 19-year-old victim on the sidewalk. president obama is in dublin, ireland this morning. this is a first stop of a six- they visit to europe.

from ireland the president will go to england, france, and poland. shane bower and josh fattal told their families they staged a 17-day hunger strike after they were stopped from receiving letters. the mothers of the two young men began their own hunger strike on thursday. the phone calls lasted just less than five minutes. their families say bower and fattal sound reasonably well. also this morning pakistani troops regain control of a naval base that was taken over by taliban militants that occupy the highest security facility for 18 hours. at least 12 members of the pakistan security forces were killed in the battle. now the u.s. supplied surveillance aircraft they were destroyed. the taliban says that the attack was in revenge for the u.s. raid that killed osama bin laden. time now 6:46. the san jose sharks have to win

their next game against the vancouver canucks tomorrow or lose out on a chance to advance to the stanley cup finals. the canucks are one game away from eliminating the sharks after a 4-2 win in game four in san jose yesterday. vancouver scored three goal in thes in a two minute stretch. watching the canuck fans celebrate at the tank that was tough on the san jose faithful but they are not giving up hope. >> that should be us up there. what can we say? they beat us. it's the best of seven series. we will win game seven. >> first is game five. that is tomorrow night in vancouver. sharks have to also win the next two games after that if they are there those games would be split between san jose and vancouver. >> you have to think positive. >> i'm thinking positive. >> we're in blue and black here. let's check in with sal for a look at traffic.

walking around and see avenue seeing in the city it's not so bad. breezy to windy at times. highs in the 70s for a few. upper 60s though or 50s and 60s closer to the coast. you throw that wind in there and it takes the edge off. these are well below average for this time of year. slightly warmer on tuesday and wednesday we cloud it up looking like rain. a few showers lingering thursday. friday will be warmer. i think saturday starts off all right. but then another system steps in. intellect the prices at the pump aring to go down. according to the lundberg survey the national average dropped nine cents. gas is averaging $4.22 a gallon in san francisco and $4.11 in oakland and san jose. let's check in on the numbers. as we have been talking about quite airdrop.

global economy. also this morning in joplin, missouri at least 89 people are dead after a violent tornado. within the past hour president obama called missouri's governor to extend his condolences. we were also to check in with a live reporter there in the area but we understand that winds, lightning, severe weather rolling through that area again we will try to get ahold of that reporter at least by phone. we are also showing you video of the high school. take a look at the damage. an estimated 25-30% of the city suffered damage. people that were there talk about the devastation. >> just makes you think just how quick something can happen. one minute it was barely sprinkling and the next minute the whole world is upside down. >> missouri's governor says fires from gas leaks are still burning across the city again.
